IDEA Boston is an Italian-American inspired festival, celebrating authors, books, and culture, organized by Boston's North End independent bookstore, I Am Books.

Poet and Sculptor Collaborations: For detailed information see the website. Each sculptor and each poet pair has created new work in response to his or her partner's art or writing. An article about Breath and Matter has also been posted on the Mass Poetry website. The exhibit will be open from July 18-August 12.
Grand opening is free of charge and open to the public. At the reception, Mary reads with other participating poets.
Note: A second reception and reading will take place on August 3 as part of SOWA's First Fridays, evening gallery walks.

Collaboration: Leaving the Island of Solitude, a panel discussion. Mary and Playwright Emile Beck with Children's Novelist Pamela Berkman discuss their experiences--the challenges and benefits of entering into a partnership to create art with others. What powerful discoveries result from exchanging individual creative control for mutual trust? How does the give and take yield work that satisfies each participant while generating a joint work of art?
